Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

This policy explains which personal data maartenverschuere.com collects, why it is collected and what your rights are. The site is the professional website of Maarten Verschuere, AI keynote speaker, author and advisor.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller of your personal data is Verde BV, with registered office at Deinzestraat 27, 9810 Nazareth, Belgium, and company number BE 0640.882.760.

For any question about this policy or about your data, you can write to hello@maartenverschuere.com.

2. Which data we collect and why

Contact forms. When you send a request through one of the contact forms, we receive your name, email address, company, the reason for your inquiry and your message, together with the page and form you used. We use this information to answer your request and to prepare and manage a possible keynote, workshop or advisory engagement. To keep track of inquiries and bookings, we record your details and our follow up in our customer relationship management system, including how the request reached us, for example directly or through a speaker agency. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to you and in managing our business relationships and, where relevant, the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.

Downloads. When you leave your email address to receive a whitepaper, report or other document, we receive your email address, the document you asked for and the form you used, together with technical details such as the date and time, the page address, your browser type and your IP address. We use this to give you access to the document, either by opening it straight away or by sending you a link by email, and to keep the forms secure. This data is also stored in our customer relationship management system. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the document you asked for and in protecting the forms against abuse.

Emails with AI insights and new resources. The download forms have a separate box, which is never ticked in advance, for receiving occasional emails with AI insights, articles, events and new resources. We only send you these emails if you ticked that box, and we record when you gave your consent, on which form and with which wording, so that we can show that it was given. Every email contains a link to unsubscribe, and you can also withdraw your consent at any time by writing to hello@maartenverschuere.com. When we send these emails, we can see whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, which helps us understand which topics are useful to readers. The legal basis is your consent.

Campaign information. When you arrive on the site through one of our advertisements, newsletters or social media posts, the link you followed can contain a label that identifies the campaign, or a click identifier that the advertising platform adds to the link. If you then fill in a form, we store that information with your submission so that we can see which campaigns lead to useful contacts. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring the effect of our marketing.

Completing your contact details. To understand who we are in contact with and to make our follow up relevant, we may complete the details you gave us with professional information from publicly available sources, such as your name, job title, employer, the size and sector of your organisation and the city where it is based. We take this information from sources such as public professional profiles like LinkedIn, the website of your organisation, public company registers and the data enrichment features of our customer relationship management system. If you used more than one email address with us, we may link them to the same contact record. We only add professional information, never sensitive data, and we do not buy contact lists. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and following up on our professional contacts. You can object to this at any time by writing to hello@maartenverschuere.com, after which we remove the added details and stop completing your record.

Chat with the book. On the Books page you can put questions to an AI version of the book AI Will Replace You. We store the questions you ask and the answers you receive, together with a random identifier kept in your browser and a scrambled, unreadable version of your IP address, which we use to limit the number of questions per visitor and to prevent abuse. Your questions and the conversation so far are sent to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI model that generates the answers. We read the stored questions to improve the chat and to learn which topics interest readers. After a few free questions we ask for your email address, which we use to give you continued access to the chat, and we only email you about the book and new content if you ticked the box for that. Please do not enter confidential or sensitive personal information in the chat. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in offering and securing this service and, for emails about the book and new content, your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Email correspondence. When you write to hello@maartenverschuere.com, or when a message is forwarded to that address, we receive your email address, your name, the content of your message and any attachments. We use this to read and answer your message, to prepare and manage a possible engagement and to keep our records up to date. Incoming messages are processed automatically by Make, our automation service, and are read by AI agents based on Claude, a model from Anthropic, which prepare summaries and draft replies. Maarten Verschuere reviews and approves every draft before anything is sent in his name. Please do not send confidential or sensitive personal information by email unless it is needed for your request. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to you and in managing our business relationships. You can object to this processing at any time by writing to hello@maartenverschuere.com.

Website statistics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are read and how visitors arrive. This involves cookies and data such as a shortened IP address, device type and pages visited. Google Tag Manager is loaded on every visit because it manages the other tags on the site, but it sets no cookies itself, and Google Analytics is only activated after you have given consent for statistics through the cookie banner.

Advertising measurement and retargeting. With your consent for marketing cookies, the site loads the LinkedIn Insight Tag and the Meta Pixel. These record which pages you visit and whether you download a document or send a contact request, so that we can measure which of our advertisements on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram lead to useful contacts, and so that we can show relevant messages about our keynotes, workshops and publications to people who visited the site. LinkedIn and Meta can link this information to your account on their platform. For the collection of data through the Insight Tag and the Pixel, we are joint controllers with LinkedIn or Meta, and their own privacy policies apply to what they do with the data afterwards. Without your consent these tags are not loaded at all, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. The legal basis is your consent.

Measuring results with contact data. To see whether our advertisements lead to inquiries and bookings, also for visitors who did not accept marketing cookies, we may share a scrambled (hashed) version of the email address of a contact in our customer relationship management system with LinkedIn and Meta, together with the stage that contact has reached, such as a download, an inquiry or a booking. The platforms use this only to match the contact with an existing account, to report the results of our campaigns to us in aggregate form, and to build audiences for our own campaigns, for example so that we stop showing advertisements to existing clients. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring and improving our marketing. You can object to this at any time by writing to hello@maartenverschuere.com, after which we stop sharing your data for this purpose.

Spam protection. The forms on this site and the chat with the book are protected by Google reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare Turnstile, which analyse how a visitor and their browser interact with the page in order to tell people from automated programs. For this purpose your IP address and technical information about your browser are sent to these providers. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and free of spam.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, browser and time of visit for a short period, in order to keep the site secure and available.

We do not sell personal data, we do not show third party advertising on this site, and we do not use your data for automated decisions about you.

3. Who receives your data

We share data only with service providers that help us run the site and our business, and only to the extent needed:

  • Namecheap, Inc. (United States), which hosts the website, the form submissions, the chat questions and answers, and the email addresses left for downloads or in the chat.
  • HubSpot, Inc. (United States), our customer relationship management and email system, which stores contact requests, download requests, consent records, completed contact details and email activity in its data centre in the European Union, and sends our emails with AI insights and new resources.
  • Make, the automation service at make.com, which runs on servers in the European Union, passes form submissions from the website to HubSpot and processes the emails received at hello@maartenverschuere.com.
  • Google Ireland Limited, for Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and reCAPTCHA.
  • LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, for the LinkedIn Insight Tag, advertising measurement and audiences, which are only used after your consent for marketing cookies, and for the matching of contact data described above.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, for the Meta Pixel, advertising measurement and audiences on Facebook and Instagram, under the same conditions.
  • Anthropic, PBC (United States), which generates the answers in the chat with the book and whose Claude AI model reads and summarises the emails we receive and prepares draft replies.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States), for the Turnstile check that protects the forms and the chat against automated abuse.

Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission or by standard contractual clauses.

4. How long we keep your data

Contact requests are kept for up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless they lead to a collaboration, in which case they are kept for as long as the legal accounting and contract obligations require. Email addresses and details left for downloads are kept for up to 24 months after your last interaction with us, unless you subscribed to our emails, in which case they are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Details added from public sources are kept only as long as the contact record they belong to. When you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so that we do not email you again, and we keep the record of your consent for as long as we need it to show that it was given. Email addresses left in the chat with the book are kept until you ask us to remove them. Chat questions and answers are kept for up to 12 months. Emails sent to hello@maartenverschuere.com are kept for up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless they lead to a collaboration. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.

5. Cookies

The site uses necessary cookies that make it work. Analytics cookies and marketing cookies are only placed after your consent. The chat with the book keeps a few items in the local storage of your browser, namely a random identifier, your email address once you have entered it and proof that you passed the automated abuse check, because the chat cannot work without them. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the Manage consent button at the bottom of each page. The full list of cookies is available in our Cookie Policy.

6. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access your data, including the details we added from public sources and where they came from, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable format and to withdraw consent you have given. To use any of these rights, send an email to hello@maartenverschuere.com and we will answer within one month. To stop receiving our emails, you can also simply use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.

If you believe your data is not handled correctly, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
